Port Blair, May 15: ANTCC President Mr. Rangalal Halder has demanded to provide regular Electricity and Water Supply in the region of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri. Halder has highlighted the issues being faced due to the problem of Load Shedding of Electricity and the Crises of Water Scarcity in A & N Islands.
He said that “The Islanders feels it almost impossible to carry on with their daily routine works as the electric supply breaks down very frequently and at odd times, mid-night or at after-noon hours which has disheartened them to a higher extent”.
He added that “Due to the frequent power cuts in the entire localities of A & N Islands the students are dismayed to make regular attention to prepare for the upcoming written examinations for the Government posts recruited by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration”.
Mr. Halder has also highlighted the problem of water crisis in the entire region of Andaman & Nicobar Islands as the Islanders are longing for a drop of water to drink rather than to use for other external purposes.
He mentioned that the water being transported from Hut Bay to Port Blair through DSS vessel with a capacity of 500 tons has been insufficient to fulfill the required Consumption of water in the municipal areas at the regular interim. He said that to make regular plans to fetch water from Hut bay to supplement the water supply position in Port Blair and other adjoining areas”.
He further requested the Administration for taking corrective measures to resolve the problems of load shedding and water crisis in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
