Rangat Police Solves Hit and Run Blind Case within 16 Hours

Port Blair, Sep 22: The Rangat Police demonstrated its unwavering commitment to justice by swiftly solving a hit and run blind case that occurred near Darbar Bakery, Rangat. Within a mere 16 hours of the incident, the dedicated police team apprehended the prime suspect, providing much-needed closure to the victim and the community.
On 20th September 2023, the Rangat Police received information of a hit and run incident near Darbar Bakery, Rangat. The victims were taken to CHC Rangat for immediate medical attention by a Samaritan. A team from the Rangat Police Station promptly responded to the call and recorded a statement from Miss. Pooja Samadder, Supervisor at Rangat Gram Panchayat, revealing the details of the incident.
Miss. Pooja Samadder reported that on the fateful day, while traveling with a friend towards Bakultala from Rangat Bazaar at approximately 1420 hrs, a pickup truck dashed forcefully with her Scooty from behind at a high speed. The collision resulted in severe injuries to the complainant and minor injuries to her friend. Shockingly, the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene before they could note down its registration number.
Responding to the complaint, the Rangat Police swiftly initiated an FIR at the Rangat Police Station and assembled a specialized team consisting of SI Anish Ibrahim, SI Devraju, PCs Anil, Sheetal, Rahul Yadav, Pranav and Suraj Mistry led by Inspector R.K Mazumder, SHO of PS Rangat. Through meticulous investigation, which included physical and technical analysis, as well as the diligent examination of CCTV footage and valuable tips from informers and the public, the police team successfully cracked the hit and run blind case within a mere 16 hours from the registration of the FIR.
The tireless efforts of the Rangat Police culminated in the apprehension of the accused, identified as Mr. Avijit Gharami, a 38 yrs pickup truck driver residing in Rangat. The accused has been booked under the relevant sections of the law, ensuring that justice will be served.
This remarkable achievement was made possible under the table supervision of Mr. Vishesh Dhatterwal, DANIPS, SDPO Rangat and the overall direction and guidance of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District.
The Rangat Police Station extends its gratitude to the public for their cooperation and support during this investigation.
