10 stranded fishermen reach Diglipur Safely from Gol Tikry

Diglipur, Oct 10: Though the Cyclone “Phailin” has passed but the impact of the Cyclone is still prevalent. According to reports today a fishing dinghy capsized near East Island of Diglipur putting all three fishermen in great distress.
But according to reports all three fishermen managed to reach the East Island by swimming and saved their lives. These three fishermen, Mr. K. Vehkatswamy (28 yrs), Mr. K. Dilleswar Rao (31 yrs) and Mr. Joga Monal (28 yrs) have now been given shelter and food by the Police Jawans of East Island Police Look Out Post.
The Police Look Out Post has already suffered damages on 9th October and the kitchen portion of their shelter has suffered heavy damages due to tree fall. Most of the ration item has been damaged and washed away by rain but still the Police party managed to provide all kind of assistance to the three Fishermen.
Meanwhile, the District Administration is trying to bring all the three fishermen back tomorrow with the Police Team of East Islands, who are coming back tomorrow.
“Threse three fishermen are getting food and shelter without police people and will be brought tomorrow,” Punya Salila Srivastava, IAS, Secretary of Disaster Management & Relief and Rehabilitation informed Andaman Sheekha today.
Meanwhile the Assistant Commissioner has released an order today and has directed the SHO PS Diglipur to make necessary arrangement to bring these three fishermen back.
“You are therefore, directed to arrange to bring the above mentioned 03 numbers fishermen from East Island to Durgapur and report compliance immediately,” An order signed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Diglipur, this morning, said.
Meanwhile, 10 fishermen who were stranded at Gol Tikry, near East Island of Diglipur returned this morning in two different dinghies.
