Port Blair, Apr 30: The Andaman Karate Association (Kyokushin Kai Kan), Port Blair (a martial-art based registered organization, vide Registration No.1193) recognized by the International Karate Organization (IKO MATSUSHIMA JAPAN) going to organize the 13th IKO Matsushima All Andaman Kyokushin Karate Championship 2023 on Sunday, the 30th April 2023 in Ananda Marga School Campus, Junglighat, Port Blair from 0700 Hrs. onwards. Acharya Shantashubhananda Avadhuta, Diocese Secretary, Ananda Marga Pracharak Samgha, Andaman Diocese will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Er. Ashim Sarkar, Assistant Engineer, APWD and Er. North & Middle Andaman Police successfully concluded “SP Cup – 2023 Tournament” at Mini Stadium, Rangat
Port Blair, Apr 30: The North & Middle Andaman Police has successfully organized “SP Cup Cricket tournament”, a community policing initiative, at Mini Stadium, Rangat from March 12, 2023, to April 28, 2023. The tournament saw participation from 10 teams who showcased their skills and sportsmanship in an exciting display of cricket.
The tournament featured some of the most exciting and closely contested cricket matches, with players displaying their skill and teamwork on the field. The final was played between Adm – XI and NYC, Rangat Bay with NYC Rangat Bay emerging victorious, clinching the title in a nail-biting finish.
The event was graced by the presence of Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman District, who handed over the trophies and cash prizes to the players. The players were thrilled to receive the awards and expressed their gratitude towards the North & Middle Andaman Police for organizing such a wonderful tournament.
Speaking about the initiative, the Superintendent of Police, North & Middle Andaman, said, “We are delighted to have successfully conducted the SP Cup – 2023, which has been a wonderful platform for promoting sports and cordial police – public relations. The tournament has not only helped us foster a stronger bond with the community, especially youth but it has also provided a great opportunity for the youth to showcase their talent”.
“SP Cup tournament” is a fantastic way for the North & Middle Andaman Police to connect with the local community and promote the spirit of sportsmanship. The tournament was a resounding success and people are hoping to see similar events in the near future.
Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI organizes National Consultation on Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC)
Port Blair, Apr 30: The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI organized National Consultation on Comprehensive Abortion Care (CAC) on April 24 & 25, 2023 at New Delhi. Around 150 participants attended the workshop from different States of India. The main objective of the programme was to focus on dissemination of MTP (Amendment) Act & Rules 2021 and to further improve access, demand, safety and quality of abortion care services in the country. CAC services ensure safe and quality abortion care to women seeking the services so that Maternal Death due to unsafe abortion can be prevented.
It is a matter of pride that the UT of Andaman & Nicobar Islands has been awarded ‘Award of Excellence’ for improving access to safe abortion services and ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ for outstanding performance in improving access to safe abortion services in the Islands at National consultation on CAC. Dr. Suja Antony, Deputy Director (Family Welfare)/Joint Secretary (Reproductive Child Health Care) attended the two days workshop and received the Memento and Certificate on behalf of the UT Administration.

Port Blair, April 29: A firing practice will be carried out by Indian Coast Guard on May 1, 9, 15, 26 and 30, 2023 from 1.15 pm to 3.15 pm. The safe flying height is 6000 feet AMSL. All concerned have been warned to keep themselves and their vessels / fishing boats away from the firing area during above mentioned date and time.

Mr.Dharmendra Narayan (Councilor Ward No-17), Senior Vice chairperson prayed to the Almighty to give eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family members to bear the irreparable loss.

Training -cum Sensitization Programmes on entry of data on e-Samridhi Portal of NAFED
Port Blair, Apr 30: Under the Scheme Prime Minister Annadata Aay SanraksHan Abhiyan (PM-AASHA), the Govt. of India provides Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Fair Average Quality (FAQ) Milling Copra at Rs.10,860/-per quintal. NAFED is the Central Nodal Agencies (CNA) to procure copra from the farmers of these Islands through three State Level Supporters (SLS) namely Andaman & Nicobar Cooperative Federation (ANCOFED), Tribal Development Cooperative Societies (TDCS) and Ellen Hinango Limited (EHL). Farmers have to be registered in the e-samridhi portal of NAFED to avail the benefit of the Price Support Scheme.
In this regard, Training -cum Sensitization Programmes on entry of data on e-Samridhi Portal of NAFED relating to copra procurement was organized by NAFED, Chennai through video conferencing in the conference hall of Directorate of Agriculture.
Mr. Rajesh Goyal, IAS, Secretary (Cooperation) and Mr. Vikram Singh, Director of Agriculture were also present. The video conferencing was attended by the Assistant Commissioners of all the three districts, officers/officials of Agriculture Department, all Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies, all Assistant Registrar, Inspectors and Sub- Inspectors of Cooperative Department and all State Level Supporters (ANCOFED, EHL, TDCS). Mr. Hubert, Vice Chief of Chowra and Mr. Johnah, Vice Chief of Teressa also attended the training.
Training on farmer registration and payment mode in e-Samridhi Portal was impacted by Mr. Akshay Bhosle, Manager, NAFED, and South Zone. The Secretary (Cooperation) stressed upon the State Level Supporters to initiate immediate action for copra procurement from the farmers of A&N Islands. Altogether, 70 participants attended the sensitization programme.

New Mini Bus Terminal in Bambooflat to be Inaugurated Today

Port Blair, Apr 28: After a long wait, the new bus terminal in Bambooflat is finally set to be inaugurated tomorrow by the Chief Secretary in presence of the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The completion of the terminal is a much-awaited development for the residents of Bambooflat and the surrounding areas.
The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands had recently highlighted about the delay in inaugurating the Bus terminus after which now the bus terminal has been made ready for inauguration
The Mini Bus Terminus will have the facility of six departure bays to accommodate six buses at a time. The terminal will also have basic facilities like better passenger amenities, a spacious waiting hall, refreshment stalls, washrooms, a ticketing counter, and workshop & washing facilities for the buses.
Villagers of Bambooflat and Zilla Parishad member Miss V.K. Mariyam Bibi have expressed their gratitude towards the A&N Administration for fulfilling their long-pending demand for a mini-bus terminal. The new terminal is expected to benefit the commuters of Bambooflat and its surrounding areas.
Along with the Mini Bus Terminus, a parking space will also be developed on the adjacent land, which can be used by the general public for parking their vehicles. The parking space will ease the road congestion at Bambooflat Jetty and its adjoining areas to a great extent and facilitate organized parking of vehicles in the area.
