Public demands to Open two Bypass Roads to Ease Traffic Congestion at Bhatu Basti Junction

April 28, 2023 by sanjib Leave a Comment

Vikramaditya
Port Blair, Apr 28: Residents of Port Blair city are facing significant traffic congestion at the busy Bhatu Basti Junction. The junction witnesses thousands of vehicles crossing it every day, and during rush hours, nearly 5 to 6 traffic jams could be seen in the area on a daily basis. The jams often extend up to Garacharma and Pathergudda areas, causing significant delays for commuters.
To solve this problem, the general public are now demanding to open two bypass roads to divert traffic and ease the pressure at the Bhatu Basti Junction.
The first bypass road should be from opposite Switz Bakery to Bhatubasti Petrol Pump via Bhatubasti Industrial area and that should be opened during rush hours to divert major traffic going towards Pathergudda.
The second bypass road (to be constructed) should connect Garacharma, Church of God area to St. Mary School exit road, Garacharma, to divert major traffic going towards Garacharma area.
If done, this would provide massive relief for office goers, evening crowds, and end the traffic jam problem of the area. Additionally, it would also make the movement of pedestrians who come to Bhatu Basti Junction for shopping much easier and safer.
