He appreciated the hardwork and proactive participation of cadets in all Social Service and Community Development activities. The Group Commander motivated the cadets to perform to the best of their abilities and make the best use of all opportunities that were provided to them. During the address the Commanding Officers, ANO/Caretaker and PI Staff of Army and Naval NCC Units were present.

ICAR-CIARI Conducts Input Distribution cum Awareness Programme on Backyard Fruit Farming for Nicobarese Farmers
Port Blair, May 09: Fruits are an essential component of a healthy diet and play a major role in providing essential nutrients to the body. Post-COVID-19 pandemic, there has been increased emphasis on the importance of consumption of fruits. A number of major and underutilized fruits can be cultivated under island condition in home gardens with minimum maintenance. As a part of Azadika Amrit Mahotsav, an awareness programme on “Fruit Cultivation in Home Garden ” was conducted by ICAR-CIARI on May 8, 2023 at Harminder Bay, Little Andaman under Scheduled Tribe Component. During the programme, coordinator – Dr. Pooja Bohra, Scientist-SS (Fruit Science), ICAR-CIARI made the participants aware about the importance of fruit consumption and encouraged them to grow fruits in their home gardens. To facilitate them in this venture, a variety of hand tools which are required for farming such as pickaxe, sickle, spade, machete and hand hoe were distributed to 100 participants, which included 64 male and 36 female participants. Mr. Festus N., Secretary, Tribal Council, Herminder Bay expressed his gratitude for conducting the programme for the benefits of tribal farmers of the islands. The programme was co-coordinated by Dr. Ajit Arun Waman, Scientist-SS, ICAR-CIARI under the supervision of Dr. P.K. Singh, Head (I/c), Division of Horticulture and Crop Improvement, ICAR-CIARI and guidance of Dr. E.B. Chakurkar, Director, ICAR-CIARI.
ANRKM and NSKS express gratitude for the sanctioning of 1/30th pay plus DA to all left out DRMs
Port Blair, May 09: The Andaman Nicobar Rajya KarmachariMahasangh (ANRKM) and its affiliated associations, including the APWD Karmachari Sangh, NagarpalikaSwachhthaKarmachari Sangh (NSKS), and all other affiliated service associations, have expressed sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Mr. Amit Shah, Lt. Governor, the Chief Secretary, and the Secretary (Perl) for taking the efforts to enhance the pay of working DRMs by granting 1/30th pay plus DA to all left out DRMs.
ANRKM had been demanding a 1/30th pay increase since 2021, which has now materialized. The efforts of all those involved in this noble cause are praiseworthy. The association also thanked Mr. Vishal Jolly, NEC Member, BJP, for continuing the efforts in the interest of the larger working class.

Death Mourned
Port Blair, May 09: Mr. Ajoy Bairagi,State President, BJP, A&N Islands along with all office bearers have deeply mourned the sudden and untimely demise of Mr. Dilip Singh, S/o Mr. Jageshwar Singh, aged about 37 years, R/o Haddo, who expired today at G. B. Pant Hospital.
His funeral would start at 11 am tomorrow (10-05-2023), from his residence at Haddo .
The Leaders pray to the almighty god to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
