Andaman‘s Logo Maestro’s design shines on Navy Day 2023 event, attended by Prime Minister

Port Blair, Dec 04: In a momentous occasion, Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi graced the Navy Day event in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district today. The ceremony, an ode to patriotism and maritime grandeur, witnessed the Prime Minister acknowledging the unwavering dedication of our Navy personnel in safeguarding the nation.
Amidst the national celebration, there was an added source of pride for islanders as Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram, a distinguished logo designer from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, made a significant contribution. His design was chosen as the official logo for Navy Day 2023 by the Western Naval Command, infusing a touch of Andaman’s brilliance into the grand festivities.
Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram, currently serving as a Section Officer in the ICMR-RMRC, Port Blair, has garnered national and international acclaim for his artistic journey. His recent achievement includes the design of the new official logo for the Andaman Nicobar Police, launched by the Lt. Governor of Andaman Nicobar Islands.
Not confined to his official duties, Mr. Jeevan has voluntarily showcased his remarkable talent as an emblem illustrator. His portfolio boasts designs for prestigious international and national events, as well as departmental insignias.
Among his notable achievements is the design of the iconic 75 rupees coin, unveiled by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during a historic visit to Port Blair on December 30, 1943. This coin stands as a testament to Mr. Jeevan’s exceptional creativity. Additionally, he was entrusted with designing the official insignia for the Dadra Nagar Haveli & Daman Diu Police, solidifying his reputation as a highly sought-after designer.
As Navy Day celebrations resonate across the nation, Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram’s artistic contributions stand out, adding a touch of island creativity to the grandeur of this historic event.

Investors Meet for development of Tourism Projects in A&N Islands

Port Blair, Dec 04: ANIIDCO in association with the A&N Administration organized a ‘Destination Andaman – Investors Conference’ today at ITC Maurya, New Delhi for the development of tourism projects in A&N Islands. The Investor’s Conference was chaired by Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency (IDA), attended by Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Smt. Nandini Paliwal, IAS, MD, ANIIDCO and other senior Officers of A&N Administration and ANIIDCO.
The Investor’s Conference was organized for obtaining feedback and suggestions from potential investors for making the initiative for the development of tourism projects in A&N Islands a success and also to reach out to the potential investors, so that they bid when the RFPs are floated in the market. The conference was attended by more than 150 delegates from the leading hospitality industry including Taj, Oberoi, ITC, Surrendra Park, Sterling Holidays, Mahindra Holidays, etc.
During the conference, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor highlighted the strategic importance of the A&N Islands and the rapid transformative development being undertaken including setting up of a Transshipment Port in Great Nicobar Island, Cruise Tourism, Development of Marina, Expansion of the existing Helicopter Fleet, Development of the Deep-Sea Port in North Andaman, etc. Hon’ble Lt. Governor highlighted that Andaman Islands are bigger than many Island nations and offer unique potential for development confirming to the sustainable development norms, considering more than 90% of the Island area has green cover.
The Chief Secretary highlighted various initiatives taken by the A&N Administration for improving and strengthening the infrastructure related to connectivity, power, water supply, etc. which will provide impetus to the development of tourism in the Islands. During the conference, presentations were made by the technical consultants on the development of four Islands viz. eco-tourism projects in Long Island, Aves Island, Smith Island and Shaheed Dweep; the development of Megapode Resort and holistic development of 11 Islands/ sites spread across North Andaman, Middle Andaman and South Andaman.
The projects will be implemented on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The developer is expected to design, build, finance, maintain, and operate the projects under a concession agreement. ANIIDCO shall be the Project Management Agency (PMA) as approved by the IDA and the authorised representative of the A&N Administration to deal with all aspects of the concession agreement. Development parameters such as permissible number of rooms, activities, building and construction standards shall be pre decided by the Govt. considering ecological sensitivity, bio diversity of the Islands and their strategic locations. The Projects will conform to internationally acknowledged benchmarking standards /norms like GRIHA/ LEED/ Green Globe.
The main objective of the projects is to provide world class and sustainable tourism infrastructure with low environmental impact and provision for socio economic involvement of local population. The developer will be responsible to provide a high component of employment to the local youth.

Member of Parliament Kuldeep Rai Sharma Demands an Additional Lab Assistant for PHC Tushnabad

Port Blair, Dec 04: In response to mounting concerns raised by a significant number of residents from Tushnabad and surrounding areas, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded an Additional Lab Assistant for PHC Tushnabad.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of Andaman and Nicobar Administration, the Member of Parliament mentioned that the PHC Tushnabad is grappling with a shortage of Lab Assistants, with only one personnel currently handling essential blood test sample collections. This deficiency has resulted in substantial delays, inconveniencing patients who are compelled to revisit the facility after 3 to 4 days for sample collection. Given the high volume of patients, averaging nearly 200 per day, the lone Lab Assistant is facing considerable challenges in meeting the healthcare demands of the community.
In light of these pressing circumstances, the Member of Parliament has requested the Chief Secretary to urgently expedite the posting of an additional Lab Assistant at PHC Tushnabad.

Prelude event of ITF 2023 at Marina area postponed due to inclement weather

Port Blair, Dec 04: Due to prevailing inclement weather condition, the prelude event of Island Tourism Festival-2023 which was scheduled to be organized at Marina area from Dec.5 to 14, 2023 by the Tourism Department, A&N Administration in association with the Department of Art & Culture has been postponed till further orders.

Administration has failed to set up industrial estate at Lamba Pahar, Wimberlygunj: CPI (M)

Port Blair, Dec 04: D. Ayyappan, Secretary, CPI (M) Andaman & Nicobar State Organising Committtee along with Mr. Venkat Ram Babu, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Wimberlygunj recently visited the land allotted by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration for setting up of Industrial Estate at Lamba Pahar, Wimberlygunj. During the visit, it was observed that the Administration has failed to set up industrial estate at the said place even though the land was allotted for the purpose in the year 1996.
The people of Wimberlygunj have been demanding the setting up of the Industrial Estate at the said place but the Administration has been delaying it for one reason or other. CPI (M) Secretary assured the villagers that the issue will be taken up with the Administration.
CPI (M) leaders D. Laxman Rao, SP Kalairajan and S. Chidambaram were also with the Secfretary, CPI (M) during the visit.

Rangalal Halder seeks attention towards the Non-Availability of Ayurvedic Medicines at the Ayush Unit in CHC, Rangat

Port Blair, Dec 04: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has raised a significant concern regarding the persistent non-availability of essential Ayurvedic medicines at the Ayush Unit of the Community Health Centre in Rangat.

In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Halder, in his statement, articulates the gravity of the situation, pointing out the consistent unavailability of crucial Ayurvedic medicines, causing inconvenience to those seeking alternative and traditional forms of healthcare in Rangat.

He stated that the accessibility of Ayurvedic medicines is not merely a matter of convenience; it resonates with the broader objective of fostering diverse healthcare options in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

He emphasizes the vitality of addressing the root cause of this issue to ensure the importance of steady and adequate supply of Ayurvedic medicines at the Ayush Unit in Middle Andaman.

Mr. Halder further calls for an action, urge’s authorities to prioritize the resolution of the Ayurvedic medicine supply issue for enhancing the overall healthcare landscape in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

TSG Charitable Foundation celebrates World Disability Day with childrens of Add Life Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre

Port Blair, Dec 04: To encourage people to work towards breaking down barriers and creating a society where everyone can live with dignity and equality, the TSG Charitable Foundation celebrated the World Disability Day with children of “Add Life Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation Centre” at Prothrapur Community Hall on Sunday.
The Chairman of TSG Charitable Foundation Mr. TSG Bhasker inaugurated the programme along with several other dignitaries with a lamp lighting ceremony.
He gave a short beautiful speech explaining the importance and significance of giving special children the love, care, and education for them to blossom. He also mentioned how happy and honored he was, to be able to attend the occasion.
The Special Children performed dances, songs and poetry with their inherent talent to impress the audiences.
The event was organized with the active coordination of Social Worker Mrs. M. Bindu and Programme Coordinator TSG Charitable Foundation Mr. Ameer Bux.
The programme was attended by Councillor Ward no. 10 Mrs. T. Mangayakarasi, Social Worker’s Mr. Tamilselvan, Mr. Mohd. Zubair, Mr. Saji Varghese, Ms. Diksha Dular, Mrs. Fathima Imtiaz, Research Officer DHS, Mr. M.L Peter, Occupational Therapist Mrs. Niti, Prosthetist and Orthotists Clinician Mr. Himadri Sekhar Debsharma and several others.

Member of Parliament lays foundation stone for construction of a community hall at Khudiram Pur, Diglipur

Port Blair, Dec 04: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma has laid the foundation stone for a community hall at Khudiram Pur, Diglipur, under MPLADS funds.

For a long time the Member of Parliament have been receiving requests for the construction of a Community Hall at Khudiram Pur village of Diglipur.

Once constructed the Community Hall will be used for various purposes, including religious functions, cultural events, social gatherings, and family functions by the residents of Khudiram Pur and nearby areas.

Member of Parliament inaugurates modern Gym in Shibpur constructed under MPLADS fund

Port Blair, Dec 04: In a well appreciated move towards fostering youth fitness and well-being, the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma on 02.12.2023 has inaugurated a modern Gym in Shibpur area of Diglipur region, which was set up under MPLADS Funds.
The installation of these state-of-the-art fitness facilities will allow youths of the region to focus on bodybuilding, fitness and daily workouts.
The project was sanctioned by the Member of Parliament following demands raised by youths of the region for setting up a modern Gym.

Member of Parliament inaugurates Open Community Hall at Talbagan

Port Blair, Dec 04: Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma the Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on 02.12.2023 inaugurated the long-awaited Open Community Hall at Talbagan, which was constructed under MPLADS fund.

The hall is now open for various purposes, including religious functions, cultural events, social gatherings, and family functions.

The Member of Parliament had sanctioned the work for construction of the Community Hall at Talbagan, following demands raised by villagers of the region. A large number of PRI members and residents of the area were present on the occasion of inauguration of the Open Community Hall.
